Katie is determined to follow her father’s footsteps. When trying to obtain permission to return to Africa for a new anthropological study, she enlists the help of an 'old' friend of her father's, Jeremiah Black. She discovers Jeremiah is far from 'old.' In fact, he's in his mid-thirties, excessively good-looking and clearly knows it. She soon regrets bringing him into her life. Jeremiah not only secures her the backing she requires, but he invites himself along and uncovers a shocking truth she would have preferred never to know: her best friend Timbaku believes he is Katie's slave.
